Modern Slavery and Human Trafficking Statement

This Modern Slavery and Human Trafficking Statement is made by Self Storage Lambeth in respect of the financial year ending 31 December and sets out the steps we are taking to prevent modern slavery and human trafficking in our business operations and supply chains. Self Storage Lambeth recognises its responsibility to uphold and promote human rights and to act with integrity and transparency in all our business dealings.

Modern slavery is a crime and a gross violation of fundamental human rights. It can take various forms, such as slavery, servitude, forced or compulsory labour, bonded labour and human trafficking, all of which have in common the deprivation of a person’s liberty by another in order to exploit them for personal or commercial gain. Self Storage Lambeth is committed to ensuring that modern slavery has no place in our organisation or in the wider network of suppliers and contractors who support our operations.

Our Zero-Tolerance Approach

Self Storage Lambeth maintains a zero-tolerance policy towards modern slavery and human trafficking. We are committed to acting ethically and with integrity in all our business relationships. We seek to implement and enforce effective systems and controls to ensure modern slavery is not taking place within our own business or in any part of our supply chains.

All colleagues, including permanent staff, temporary workers, and contractors working on our premises, are expected to uphold this zero-tolerance stance. Any breach of our modern slavery standards by staff may result in disciplinary action, up to and including termination of employment or engagement. We expect the same high standards from all of our suppliers and partners.

Our Supply Chains and Supplier Standards

Our supply chains include providers of storage equipment, security systems, cleaning and maintenance services, property management services, utilities, waste management, and various professional services. We aim to build long-term, transparent relationships with suppliers who share our values and commitment to ethical conduct.

We seek to work with suppliers who can demonstrate that they have policies and procedures in place to prevent modern slavery and human trafficking. As part of our onboarding and ongoing supplier management processes, we may request information on their labour practices, recruitment methods, use of subcontractors, and compliance with relevant legislation and regulations.

Supplier Audits and Due Diligence

Self Storage Lambeth is developing and enhancing its risk-based due diligence programme to assess and monitor potential modern slavery risks within our supply chains. Where appropriate and proportionate to the level of risk, we may conduct supplier audits or request evidence of independent audits carried out by reputable third parties.

These activities may include reviewing policies and procedures, examining working conditions, assessing recruitment and employment practices, and verifying the identity and legal right to work of workers involved in providing goods or services to Self Storage Lambeth. If any supplier is found to be engaging in practices that raise concerns about modern slavery or human trafficking, we will work with them to address the issue promptly. Where necessary, we may suspend or terminate the relationship.

Reporting Concerns and Speaking Up

Self Storage Lambeth encourages a culture of openness and accountability. We want all colleagues, suppliers, and other stakeholders to feel confident in raising concerns about any issue or suspicion of modern slavery in our business or supply chains.

Concerns can be raised through internal reporting channels made available to staff, line managers, senior management, or designated reporting routes within the company. We will treat all reports sensitively and, as far as reasonably possible, confidentially. No person will suffer detrimental treatment for reporting, in good faith, a genuine concern about modern slavery or human trafficking.

Training and Awareness

We are working to build awareness of modern slavery and human trafficking risks among our employees so that they can identify signs of exploitation and know how to respond. Training and communications will focus on those staff who are involved in procurement, supplier management, recruitment, and site operations, where the risks are more likely to arise.

We will periodically review our training content and awareness materials to ensure they remain relevant and reflect evolving best practice and regulatory expectations.

Monitoring, Accountability and Annual Review

Self Storage Lambeth is committed to continuous improvement in our approach to combating modern slavery. We will monitor the effectiveness of our policies, procedures, and controls through regular internal reviews and, where required, external input. Key focus areas will include supplier risk assessments, effectiveness of reporting channels, and the adequacy of staff training.

This Modern Slavery and Human Trafficking Statement will be reviewed, updated, and approved by the leadership of Self Storage Lambeth on an annual basis, or more frequently if necessary, to reflect any changes in our operations, supply chains, or applicable legal and regulatory requirements.

This Statement represents Self Storage Lambeth’s commitment to playing our part in eradicating modern slavery and human trafficking and in safeguarding the dignity and rights of all individuals connected to our business.
